A day at Hounds

A day at Hounds

Here is what a typical day might look like for your hounds. Like children, they need time to rest as well as play. We give them opportunities to socialise, provide mental and physical stimulation as well as plenty of opportunities for cuddles!

Breakfast

If you don't have time in the morning, or sometimes you just simply forget - don't worry we have you covered. You can bring in your own food or purchase some from our centres. We only use the best food available and are always mindful of medical conditions and individual requirements.

We can use puzzle bowls for doggie feeding times, to slow down eating time and also give your doggie an extra game to play!

Group training

Whilst breakfast goes down, we take the opportunity to do some group training with your doggies. This might be teaching them to wait, or paw, or for the more advanced doggies, retrieve on command etc. Our training sessions are based on the abilities on the dogs, and most importantly for those who find it fun! Its also an opportunity to get some treats!

Group open play

We know that doggies have their best friends. We team doggies up so they get to spend the most time with doggies they like best! Here they get to run around freely, saying hello, playing tug, chasing each other - doing whatever they like the most! Our groups aren't bigger than 10 doggies as we like to make sure we can watch them interact, and prevent any anxieties or stress building. Happy doggies are better behaved doggies!

Enrichment exercises

Mental exercise is just as important (if not more) as physical. We offer different enrichment exercises throughout the day for your dogs, for them to use their brains. This could be snuffle or lick mats, dig boxes, playing games, agility courses, the list goes on! This is super important and providing varied enrichment can help improve behaviour and response.

Nap time

To get the most our of doggies, we want them to get some rest time. We also recognise that some doggies only want to mooch around, having a sniff here and there, then curling up and going to bed for a quick nap with some cuddles.

Our snooze areas have comfortable mats and beds, with dog friendly relaxing music to help them calm down and drift off.

Bath time

Each dog will get a brush each week, to keep their coats at their best! You can also opt for a bath or full groom*, we also offer nail clipping or teeth brushing services too.

Please note that additional grooming services will be chargeable and aren't included with standard day care packages. A weekly brush is included within standard day care.

If your dogs have got their paws muddy during the day, we will give them a quick wash off before they are picked up.

*full grooming isn't available until 2025

Home time

Before home time, we like to take some time out to calm down, so that they are ready for the ride home.

We will provide you with pictures each week of what they have got up to, with information on training progress and any other details you would like to know.

Your doggie will be going home tired and happy, be prepared for some sweet dreams!
